Italian Black Metal Division

Recensisco questo demo con notevolissimo (e colpevole) ritardo, il demo stesso è del 1999, ma a me arrivò più o meno un anno fa,
ricordo che lo ascoltai una prima volta e rimasi perplesso, poi per quale strana ragione finì nel dimenticatoio…
Quindi accade che l'altro giorno leggendo una zine, vi trovo una recensione allo stesso molto positiva,
è allora che incuriosito metto sottosopra la stanza alla ricerca del demo perduto…
Decido poi di metterlo su mentre mi rilasso con un bel gioco strategico di guerra al pc…
Sorpresa delle sorprese ho letteralmente riscoperto questo demo, l'ho trovato micidiale, un concentrato di potenza e ferocia,
l'ideale sottofondo per le mie Panzerdivisionen che sfondavano come il burro le linee Sovietiche!!!
Un sound, un Black Metal talmente massiccio da ricordarmi come sensazioni niente meno che "Panzer Division Marduk", per la sua compattezza, per il suo lasciarti senza tregua, senza fiato!!!
Una composizione mai banale, con grandi passaggi qua e là che si inseriscono in un sound come detto già solido,
che nelle 9 tracce riesce a non stancare mai, notevole a mio parere nel dispiegarsi dell'album un sostanzioso influsso Satyriconesco.
Che dire, i ragazzi erano in procinto di firmare per la Elegy Records, perciò sentiremmo presto sentir parlare di loro…
quanto a me, son lieto di aver rimediato con questa recensione a quello che sarebbe stato un vero e proprio crimine!!!

Gli italiani Ars Macabra propongono un lavoro molto estremo. La loro propensione al black metal appare totale e l'indirizzo che seguono
è quella di una continuazione del discorso originario del genere portato avanti dalla frangia più estrema e violenta nonchè conservatrice.
Niente tastierine alla Dimmu Borgir insomma caratterizzano il sound della band italiana,priva di compromessi,
totalmente ispirata così com'è dalla vena di stampo norvegese.
Tre quarti d'ora di odio,violenza e sangue segnano il cd di debutto degli Ars Macabra.
A seguito dell'intro infatti troviamo un interminabile tunnel segnato da canzoni furiose,composte da sezioni alla batteria tempestate da un doppio pedale accattivante,
da riff alla chitarra degni di vere e proprie litanie(dato che gli ars amano tanto il latino, stimoliamoli), stucchevoli e nevrotiche.
Degno compagno un basso maligno che non lascia mai spazio neanche ad un sospiro.
La voce recita nella sua lingua le parole magiche che realizzano il talento della band.
C'è da dire che il lavoro ha dei punti deboli, quali ad esempio la produzione e la mancanza di parti un più varianti
anche se la scelta della band è verso un'estremizzazione del genere e per tale ragione quest'ultimo difetto è scusabile,
anche se forse un pòlimitante .
Ma lo spirito e l'affiatamento della band che trapela da questa loro fatica è tale da lasciare senza dubbio più che soddisfatti.
E la notizia che la band ha firmato un contratto con la Elegy records lascia ben sperare.

Fortunecity

After a short intro the Italian band Ars Macabra kicks off in all it's fury,
to make clear that they're not another Marduk or Dark Funeral clone.
The songs on this demo are quick but are a lot more then just some powerchordsriffs with a top40 production.
The demo sounds quite dirty and chaotic but if you listen good you will hear the music is technically very good.
Especially the weird melodies in the guitarriffs sound a bit like the last couple of Abigor albums,
And just like Abigor they managed to give this a good atmosphere.
The follow-up of the cd is being released by Elegy Records, is called 'Daemonolatria Hypnotia' and is, according to the band,
"better produced, faster and more technical".
I'm looking forward hearing it! 'Iter In Obscuritates Mentis' lasts almost 45 minutes, contains 9 songs

Ars Macabra - Iter in obscuritates mentis 11 Songs - 53:06 selbstfinanziert Mit dem erklärten Ziel, Italiens extremste und schnellste Black Metal Band zu werden, formierte sich Ars Macabra 1998.
Nachdem dieses Demo schon mal in einem Studio eingespielt wurde und die Band mit dem Sound alles andere als zufrieden war,
buchte man ein weiteres Studio um "Iter in obscuritates mentis" endlich dingfest zu machen.
Allerdings gefällt mir der Sound auch jetzt nicht und ich will erst gar nicht wissen, wie dieses Demo wohl davor geklungen hat.
Das Teil geht zwar für Demo Verhältnisse in Ordnung, aber dennoch ist der Sound alles andere als optimal.
Aber auch darüber hinaus gelingt es der Band nicht durch ihre Musik Akzente zu setzen.
Die meisten Riffs hat man schon tausendmal irgendwo anders gehört und sie sind auch alles andere als technisch versiert.
Nichts gegen primitive Black Metal, sofern er gut ist, aber "Iter in obscuritates mentis" sagt mir wirklich überhaupt nicht zu,
da die Songs einfach noch nicht fertig klingen. Es ist keine klare Struktur in den Songs ersichtlich, vielmehr hat man den Eindruck,
dass es der Band viel wichtiger ist auf Teufel komm raus die extremste und schnellste Band zu sein.
Es wird praktisch pausenlos geprügelt, was auf Kosten der Melodie geht und somit ist schon nach wenigen Momenten Langeweile angesagt.
Auch der Wiedererkennungswert ist auf diesem Album gleich null. Sorry, aber Ars Macabra haben es nicht geschafft ein vernünftiges Black Metal Album zu veröffentlichen.

Demonic Horde

Many BM bands dwell the Italian UG scene, older acts as Aborym, Mortuary Drape, Waffen SS, or newer UG bands as Aisling, Urshurark, or Ars Macabra.
Sathor (guitars) and Nero Baratro (bass) formed Ars Macabra in 1998 to play in a faster and more extreme style than the actual Italian BM bands.
Ars Macabra gained a vocalist, Azrael, the same year and released a first Demo CD during the winter.
They improved the production and re-recorded it in 99, adding 2 tracks from the upcoming 'Daemonolatria Hypnotica' album that should be released this fall 2003 on Elegy Records.
The band returns to the original line up the same year, plays some gigs in Italia, and sign a deal for 2 albums in 2001 on Elegy Recs.
This album is a fast and brutal output of fierce and aggressive Black Metal, raised by chaotic yet discordant riffs thickening their harsh yet disharmonic style.
Some percussions open this relatively violent album, where fast and ultra fast parts alternate, urged by a rigid and restless battle drumming, as in the second 'Disciples of Torment',
pierced by an ultra fast break, or 'Nox Mentis' even marked by more noisy riffs.
An unpleasant aggression decupled by furtive stops and accelerations, and additional melodies as in the thick yet chaotic 'Nadaldy's Widow'.
Ars Macabra also inject smoother tones and rhythms as in 'On the Art of Suffering', marked by darker and more muffled vocals, vivid riffs and slighter melodies in the background,
or in 'I am The Equinox of Emptiness', softened by smoother and darker instrumental breaks.
Insisting and jerky riffs mark the brutal 'The Rising of the Black Templars', a discordant track raised by the harsh vocals and an intermittent and repetitive machine drum.
A broken rhythm that gain smoother tones in the ultra fast 'Remembrance of Cruelty'.
The highlight of this release are the 2 bonus tracks released with a better sound quality and in a more balanced style.
These 2 tracks sound at time more powerful and varied, enhanced by more harmonious riffs and alternated vocals.
Macabre, dramatic and furious, this album seems at times primitive with some atmospheres full of rage.
Ars Macabra success to deliver an extremely aggressive release with their own style, but their upcoming output "Daemonolatria Hypnotica"
is without any doubt played in a more interesting and balanced style.
The Layout is intense and enhanced by a middle ages painting, & Ars Macabra's upcoming first full length 'Daemonolatria Hypnotica' will be finally recorded by Elegy Music during 2003.

Metallo Italiano

Questa volta mi trovo un pò spiazzata dinnanzi a tale cd (o demo non so bene come definirlo).
Il motivo fondamentale è che questo lavoro che mi proviene dai romani Ars Macabra, data 1999 e non riesco a capire
la loro scelta di farlo recensire quattro anni dopo l'uscita.
Ma sorvoliamo su questo piccolo mistero e veniamo ai fatti: il combo (limitato a due elementi fissi, Nero Baratro e Sathor)
si forma a Roma nel 1998 con l'intento di suonare il più estremo e veloce black metal della scena italiana.
A mio avviso, questo proposito gli è in parte riuscito; dico in parte, perché comunque la musica che ci propongono è sì, estrema e furiosa
ma ahimè, ha qualche carenza in diversi punti.
Innanzitutto la registrazione poco definita che rende il sound abbastanza "grezzotto", scelta probabilmente voluta proprio dalla band
per aumentare quel senso di estremo che è a loro così caro.
In secondo luogo la troppa ripetitività dei pezzi che a lungo andare annoia ma, soprattutto, una spiccata devozione ai "padri ispiratori" svedesi
(vedi Marduk e Dark Funeral in primis) che si nota un pò troppo nella loro musica.
Un plauso particolare invece, è per il session-drummer Abyss, per l'ottima prestazione soprattutto per quanto concerne
la velocità-doppio pedale spaventosa.
Songs maggiormente rilevanti "The Rising of the Black Templar" per quanto riguarda il vecchio materiale
e le due bonus track "Sturmgeschütz Of Chaos" e "Dawn to an Endless Night"
(che saranno contenute nel loro imminente album per la Elegy Music "Daemolatria Hypnotica"), anch'esse molto Marduk-oriented
ma che denotano una certa maturazione da parte della band.
Pan per i propri denti, per gli amanti del black underground, senza infamia e senza lode per chi è invece più avvezzo alla ricerca di nuove sonorità.

I romani Ars Macabra non hanno cessato la loro attività iper distruttiva e ce lo confermano con questo promo
estratto dal nuovo album “Daemonolatria Hypnotica” , saggio di aggressivo e feroce black metal dalle tinte ispirate ai maestri svedesi
come ad esempio Marduk etc …
Devo dire che non ci sono stati rallentamenti rispetto al precedente lavoro anche se il suono di drum machine eviscera sempre delle
tonalità troppo artificiali , che se fossero sostituite da un drum concept azzeccato , andrebbero a giovare al sound generale , dato che di velocità si parla.
Molto interessante “Dawn to an endless night” , dove proprio la batteria si rende portante di accompagnamenti apocalittici e devastanti , che vanno a terminare
il pezzo con una cadenza funerea e deprimente.

ARS MACABRA is a band hailing from Italy and Promo 2003 is an advance release of a debut full-length titled "Daemonolatria Hypnotica".
Pity that Italians decided to include just two songs from this album here,
because for sure it's hard to give the honest and deep review of it listening 2 songs from 8 (You know, the album should be an indivisible whole).
For sure, how can I know how do the other songs sound like?
Promo 2003 gives just some pictures of the sound and style and also quality of the music.
And it's really not that bad, I would say.
ARS MACABRA performs quite fast, obscure black-metal, reminding me some MYSTICUM songs, probably because of the sound of a drum machine.
But please, don't treat this comparison too seriously, because you'll not find this typical industrial and hellish climate from "In the Streams of Inferno" here.
Songs from Promo 2003 are definitely faster; they are really heavy and fast as Schumacher's car.
The tempo is slower very rarely, just for a few moments to play some more melodic riffs.
I feel comfortable with it during the listening to these to songs, but I'm curious do the rest of the songs from the album sound the same?
I ask because if they do sound pretty alike, with similar tempos, etc. then a whole CD could
sound pretty monotonous (here's again the problem with not havin' an occasion to listen to the whole album).
Hmm, why did the band decide to promote with just these 2 songs?
Are they afraid that "Daemonolatria Hypnotica" will appear in the Internet as a MP3 format that everyone could download for free?
Hmm, I think it's not that big problem since ARS MACABRA is rather unknown band.
And if someone would like to download album of theirs, so why not?
It would be good for an underground band that someone's listening to their music and maybe even recommend it to other guys,
promoting the band, don't you think?
OK., enough! All in all, I liked these two songs and probably I would like the rest too.
These songs' titles are "Sturmgeshutz of Chaos" and "Dawn to an Endless Night".
Pretty good work, so have this band in your mind when looking for something new and good from the Italian scene.

ARS MACABRA - DAEMONOLATRIA HYPNOTICA
Another impressive Italian Black Metal band take the field with a title that suits very good to the madness of this brutal demo of two songs,
this because the target is imilar to the dark funeral early albums, to leave the listener circled by a storm of obscure aggression.
A special mention goes to the listener that alternates scream parts to other lower.
Ars macabre is a band that still grow genuine hate, the bass follow the fast guitar parts giving another rash of atmosphere,
I really appreciate those bands who still like to give the right place to this instrument, not just a support.
The fact is that now Ars Macabra have some very strong points, the drum machine is one of those elements that create that hypnotic feeling,
only in some moments it's programming haven't worked at the best, probably I still prefer the old human drumming.
Preferring that choice for the post-black bands.
Apart from this aspect Ars Macabra could have a bride future.. Ild

Panzer Division Ars Macabra! No, that would be a bit too cheap to deal with this promo…
Fact is that this two song promo of their forthcoming second album “Daemonolatria Hypnotica” is a perfect match between Panzer Division Marduk and Warlust’s Trenchwar;
ultra fast war black metal.
Now the Italians may have a doubftful reputation on the battlefield, this promo proves that there are exceptions; an Italian panzer!
The titles of the two tracks add even more to this comparison: ‘Sturmgeschütz of Chaos’ and ‘Dawn to an Endless Night’.
Fact is that Ars Macabra plays some kind of quality furious hateful black metal.
The main difference with Marduk is that they don’t use paint (anymore)…
This summer three new members entered the band, yet somehow I am not sure whether Carnag_744 is already drumming on this promo,
as it sounds very drum computer like (that’s why I added the name Warlust), especially on ‘Dawn…’.
At least the production is fine, something the band itself believes is very important too.
Finally an extreme band that recognizes that poor productions are only acceptable when you don’t have the money, and not that it makes you true.
Ars Macabra walks its own path.
Their album will have the following tracklist: Misteria Nocturna/ A recollection of the world once called Earth/Disciples of Torment
Machinator Tormentorum/ Psycho Apocalypse/ Sturmgeschutz of chaos/ Prolegomena of the Warfare State/Dawn to an endless night.
Marduk/Panzer Division fans should certainly listen to that one when “Daemonolatria Hypnotica” will be released!

Gerade mal zwei Songs vom kommenden Album „Daemonolatria Hypnotica“ sind auf das mir vorliegende Demo der 1998 gegründeten Schwarzwurstkapelle geschichtet worden. Die Italiener hinterlassen dabei einen recht zwiespältigen Eindruck.
Zum einen preschen sie in der Manier von Marduk mit nahezu Lichtgeschwindigkeit nach vorne und bringen dabei eine dichte Atmosphäre hervor, die durch Mark und Bein geht.
Diesen vermeintlichen Widerspruch überwinden sie dank guter Gitarrenarbeit und fiesem Gesang des Öfteren.
Zum anderen zeigt aber vor allem der zweite Song „Dawn to an endless night“, dass Geschwindigkeit allein nicht alles sein kann.
Es fehlt hier lange Zeit ganz einfach an Einzigartigkeit, ja gar an irgendwelchen Einfällen. Wenn die Trommeln, die zweifelsohne Schwachpunkt der zwei Songs sind, in stets gleichem Wirbel daherbolzen, können die Gitarren meist nicht mehr viel retten.
Erst nach einem Übergang aus der Einfallslosigkeit heraus, gewinnt der Song etwas an Klasse und wird schliesslich sogar richtig gut.
Der erste Song hingegen ist getragen von dezenten, meist unharmonischen Melodien, die hinter dem Trommelwirbel immer wieder positiv in Erscheinung treten.
Mir fällt es dabei allerdings bei beiden Songs schwer, die Songstrukturen zu durchschauen.
Wer Schwarzmetall in seiner Urform mag und vor allem Geschwindigkeit vergöttert, dabei aber auf besondere Einfälle verzichten kann, wird bei Ars Macabra wohl nicht falsch liegen.
Wer wie ich mehr erwartet von Black Metal und nicht gerne lange auf die genialen Stellen wartet, sollte sich vielleicht lieber anderweitig herumhören, denn es gibt sie zwar – die wirklich guten Stellen – aber man muss sie zu stark suchen. (8/13 Punkte)

Según tengo entendido esta es una banda binacional, Italo - Venezolana, War Black Metal macabro es lo que ellos hacen,
exaltando el nombre que llevan en frente.
El disco posee una fuerza demoledora, lo cual es desmerecido por la poca variedad musical, pero enaltecido por la fuerza que llevan las composiciones,
los riffs son monótonos al viejo estilo noruego, las vocales son imponentes, gritos llenos de odio, lo cual es combinado con algunas vocalizaciones monstruosas guturales;
por otro lado la batería es una maquina de artillería..
Merecidamente el track N°2 "Prolegomena of a Warfare State" se lleva mis elogios, la cual se oye extremadamente infernal, y a intermedios de la misma un pasaje oscuro y combatiente, como preludio al Apocalipsis que se avecina...
El disco posee tres canciones, y si eres fanático del Black Metal al estilo escandinavo y te gusta Marduk o el recordado Mysticum entonces apunta esta banda: Ars Macabra!!!

Il presente promo dei capitolini Ars Macabra, precede di poco tempo il loro primo full-lenght "Daemonolatria Hypnotica".
Il gruppo si muove sulle coordinate ampiamente conosciute del black metal made in Sweden, pertanto il cd presenta un black senza fronzoli, privo di melodie, incentrato su ritmi serratissimi e senza il minimo respiro.
Ricorda però un po' troppo i Marduk e compagnia, ma ciò è un difetto comune a molte band emergenti.
Nei primissimi anni, infatti, è difficile avere una personalità già ben definita.
La band si è formata nel 1998 ed è formata da Nero Baratro (basso) e Sathor (chitarra) e precedentemente ha realizzato il demo Iter In Obscuritates Mentis", datato 1999.
Ai tempi del demo la band era formata anche da Azrael (voce) e da Abyss (batteria), ma per questo promo e per il debut da poco uscito per la Elegy Records la line-up è ridotta ai soli due membri fondatori.
Nel complesso le due tracce sono più che buone, aggressive e con quei riffs bastardi che ti si mettono in testa subito.
Ottime le linee vocali in puro stile black, che in alcuni momenti sembrano delirare o dannarsi, tanto da aumentare la bellezza della song.
C'è la presenza anche del cantato growl, seppur nelle backing vocals, ed il suo uso è stato più che buono.
Non ottima invece la scelta del suono della drum-machine, a mio avviso più consona ad un cd di death metal.
Comunque, se queste sono le premesse, c'è da ben sperare per il nuovo album. Massimo supporto.

Fra Italia bringer Ars Macabra oss obskur og kjapp svartmetall i form av en 3spors promo (cd-r) fra sin kommende skive "Daemonolatria Hypnotica".
Lyden er ullen, men kler musikken godt.
De bruker også trommemaskin som gir musikken litt ekstra krigsfølelse, maskinell kulde.
Det er synd det bare er 3 spor på til sammen 15 minutter dette, for jeg liker det jeg hører.
Du finner ikke mange rolige partier her fordi for det meste går det utrolig kjapt.
Jeg tør påstå at de som liker "Panzer Division Marduk" av Marduk kan finne dette interessant.
Per i dag har Ars Macabra funnet en trommeslager, noe som kanskje er litt synd, da i alle fall jeg liker den maskinelle følelsen trommemaskinen gir, men hvem vet?
Jo mer jeg lytter til Ars Macabra, joe bedre liker jeg det de driver med.
I en del år har jeg hatt sansen for kjapp blackmetal og da er band som Italienske Ars Macabra en gledelig overraskelse.
Sjekk ut Ars Macabra om kjapp obskur blackmetal er din greie! Er det ikke det lar du det være!

ARS MACABRA - Daemonolatria Hypnotica (cd promo 3 titres) Elegy music Ce groupe italien présente trois titres inscrits dans la pure tradition du black métal.
Tous les ingrédients sont là : un tempo plus que rapide, un chant guttural passant de l?
aigu au grave, une batterie qui ne cesse que lors des quelques passages mélodiques, une basse pesante et des riffs de guitares très entraînants.
Cette musique de l?extrême supporte des paroles ayant attrait aux déviances de l?esprit humain et au morbide.
Tout est lourd et sombre.
Ces morceaux ne sont pas sans rappeler des groupes comme Marduk ou Dark Funeral, surtout pour la
batterie machinale en ce qui concerne les derniers cités. Leur 3 titres (hélas! seulement 3 titres) est donc une
bien bonne surprise! Malheureusement, 16 minutes sont beaucoup trop courtes pour apprécier pleinement
Ars Macabra qui aurait mérité bien plus vu la qualité de leur musique! Cette mise en bouche est fort appétissante et
m?a donné l?envie d?écouter l?album en entier.
Ars Macabra devrait donc convertir les récalcitrants au black métal et satisfaire les adeptes du genre.

Black Metal in brutalstem Gewand bieten uns diese Herrschaften.
Die Band würde 1998 gegründet und ihr Aktuelles Album nennt sich DAEMONOLATRIA HYPNOTICA.
Von diesem Album stammen auch die zwei Songs auf dieser Promo.
Der erste Song heisst STURMGESCHÜTZ OF CHAOS und ist eine schnelle wutentbrannte Black Metal Nummer.
Schnelle Gitarrensalven, die keinerlei Melodie kennen und einfach nur extrem knüppelhart sind werden herunter gedonnert.
Geschwindigkeitsmässig variiert man zwischen sehr schnelle und infernal schnell.
Langsamere Parts sind sehr spärlich gesät und Erholungsfassen finden sich dementsprechend keine.
Gesanglich dominiert natürlich das Schwarzmetallische Gekeife, allerdings gibt es auch einige tiefe Vocals.
Auch wenn man mit zwei Songs nur ein relativ kleines Bild von dem bekommt was die Band macht,
ist der erste Eindruck schon recht positiv.
ARS MACABRA sind knüppelhart und lasen nichts anbrennen.

Tre pezzi di ferocissimo black metal per gli Ars Macabra,devoti alla nera fiamma fin dal lontano 1998 e freschi di line-up rinnovata;
i brani presenti sul promo in mio possesso andranno poi a finire sul full-length di imminente pubblicazione "Daemonolatria Hypnotica".
La band, giusto per mettere le cose in chiaro, suona diretta e senza fronzoli, puro assalto sonoro black in bilico
tra suggestioni norvegesi e svedesi (dite quello che volete sui Marduk, ma sono stati e continuano ad essere infinita fonte di ispirazione).
La registrazione è più che buona, e non rischia mai di affossare i singoli strumenti in favore di altri,
anche se è vero che tre pezzi sono forse pochi per giudicare; ciò non toglie che gli Ars Macabra sanno sicuramente il fatto loro,
e nonostante una omogeneità di fondo (a volte fin troppo marcata, ma in certi ambiti è dura inventare qualcosa...) sanno tenere alta l'attenzione dell'ascoltatore
allo scopo di martoriarlo con lucida cattiveria.
Adesso aspettiamo l'album intero, ma le premesse per un massacro sonico sono quì a disposizione in questo promo...

Ars Macabra to kolejny band, który garsciami czerpie z dokonan bardziej doswiadczonych kolegów.
Na szczescie, o ile wiekszosc tej wypacykowanej gawiedzi w skórach i trupich makijazach onanizuje sie jazgotem nieslyszalnych bzyczacych gitar i napieprzajacym bez pomyslunku automatem,
to w przypadku dwuutworowego 'Promo' Ars Macabra jest calkiem przyzwoicie.
Mam co prawda watpliwosci, czy ów 'Carnag_774' to nie nazwa automatu perkusyjnego, ale nawet jesli, to partie wydaja sie byc dosc dobrze ulozone.
No, moze poza blastem w 'Dawn...', który zaglusza w niektórych momentach gitary i wokal.
Co by tu nie mówic, te dwa kawalki sa naprawde dobrze nagrane, a same kompozycje, choc niespecjalnie dlugie (srednio 4 minuty z hakiem) robia pozytywne wrazenie (zwlaszcza pierwszy 'Sturmgeschutz...').
Z tego, co widzialem na oficjalnej stronie Ars Macabra, gotowa jest juz nowa pelnowymiarowa plyta.
Mam wiec nadzieje, ze niebawem bedziemy mogli zapuscic to plugastwo w swoich odtwarzaczach machajac rogatym lbem dla piekielnego kozla.

..Ahia! Diocane che male! gli Ars Macabra picchiano proprio duro! Dalla capitale un altro nuovo combo di italico black metal! ..bhè, dal promo in mio possesso (che anticipa l'imminente uscita dell'album "Daemonolatria Hypnotica"), di italico c'è ben poco,
direi svedesi per la loro attitudine iper-veloce e martellante, nella struttura dei pezzi e dei riff.. ma i nostri in questi 3 brani del promo dimostrano un enorme attitudine oscura e mistica..
uno screamin efficace, un basso sempre presente, alternanza con growl iper gutturali, accenni di parti lente e suggestioni industriali in inquietanti intermezzi..
Devo dire che i 3 pezzi presenti in questo promo sono veramente ottimi, specie "Prolegomena of a warfare state", assalto all'anima degli ascoltatori, un tiro micidiale interrotto solo da un intermezzo marziale e oscuro,
per poi riprendere in tutta la sua distruttiva brutalità.. e se non ho sentito male con un finale cantato in latino!
Insomma davvero un bell'antipasto di quello che sarà "Daemonolatria Hypnotica".. speriamo bene..
e speriamo che ci siano delle parti più lente e anche altri intermezzi epici e marziali che a quanto pare i nostri sanno ben fare!

Panzer Division Ars Macabra! Fact is that this second album "Daemonolatria Hypnotica" is a perfect match between Panzer Division Marduk and Warlust's Trenchwar;
ultra fast war black metal. Now the Italians may have a doubtful reputation on the battlefield, this promo proves that there are exceptions;
an Italian panzer! Ars Macabra plays some kind of quality furious hateful black metal.
The main difference with Marduk is that they don't use paint (anymore)..The production is fine,something the band itself believes is very important too.
Finally an extreme band that recognizes that poor productions are only acceptable when you don't have the money, and not that it makes you true.
Ars Macabra walks its own path.

Prima di addentrami nell’analisi dell’opera dei romani Ars Macabra,
devo assolutamente porgere le mie scuse più sentite alla band per il ritardo con il quale ho composto il mio articolo riguardante “Iter In Obscuritate Mentis”.
Non è questa la sede per spiegarne i motivi, quindi giungiamo tosto al succo del discorso: gli Ars Macabra rappresentano una delle realtà italiane maggiormente dotate sia tecnicamente sia dal punto di vista del songwriting.
Il loro black metal furioso e malefico non conosce soste e più che un album, l’ascolto assume le sembianze di un massacro.
Riff sparati a velocità assurde, vocals sofferenti e drumming ossessivo e nel contempo abbastanza preciso.
Insomma gli ingredienti ci sono tutti per una portata di assoluto rilievo: infatti,
è cosi… tanto che la Elegy Music ha preso la decisione di offrire ai giovani capitolini l’occasione di poter registrare un disco con tutte le “comodità” del caso.
I Dark Funeral degli esordi (il debutto con il mini cd omonimo è una pietra fondamentale cui molti devono inchinarsi), spunti di scuola Marduk, accenni Immortal (canzoni troncate sul finale, “Battles In The North” style!)
e dei sempre amati Mayhem (il drumming, ad esempio) sembrano costituire il desco sulla quale gli AM consumano la propria fame di brutalità e malvagità, alla ricerca di un sound personale e caratterizzante.
Il risultato, posso dire in mia opinione, appare raggiunto quasi completamente, grazie alla varietà esecutiva ed ad una discreta originalità mostrate attraverso i solchi fumanti di questa autoproduzione.
Già, me ne stavo quasi dimenticando: il suono ottenuto dalla band è mastodontico e fa rabbrividire la maggior parte dei prodotti usciti anche negli ultimi tempi. Chitarre zanzarose quanto basta, buon bilanciamento delle stesse con la batteria e prestando un briciolo di attenzione si ode anche il basso di Nero Baratro spuntare fiero a far sentire la propria presenza. Inutile citare brani particolari, il consiglio è quello di lanciarsi nell’ascolto ad occhi chiusi; una coltre di neve vi coglierà all’improvviso nel buio della vostra stanzetta.
Insomma, il loro nome non pare essersi sparso a dovere, od almeno come per altri act (di minore bravura) è accaduto, ma assicuro sulla grandezza e sulle qualità (anche solo un distratto ascolto può bastare per rendersene conto)
di una band che ha tutte le carte in regola per far risplendere il nome del black metal italiano anche oltre confine (già Beatrik, Tenebrae in Perpetuum, Frostmoon Eclipse, Spite Extreme Wing ed Altar Of Perversion lo stanno facendo con onore, ad esempio).
Siamo solo in attesa del full lenght… speriamo arrivi a breve!

Davvero potenti questi Ars Macabra, dei ragazzi di roma che mi hanno fatto riscoprire quel black metal che è esploso a metà anni 90 nella norvegia,
puro black metal quindi (diciamo tra mayhem ed emperor, almeno secondo me), con un ottimo cantato (ho apprezzato in particolar modo la prima song a riguardo, delle metriche veramente fresche e dinamiche),
una buona produzione, nella quale si sentono distinti tutti gli strumenti(basso compreso), ma cmq una prova davvero buona x tutti i ragazzi della band,con demo che vanno dal 1999,
un' apparizione in una compilation...a questo punto consiglio a tutti gli amanti del black metal ( e non) di procurarsi qualcosa di questi 5 demoni,
ne vale veramente la pena, e se passano dalle vostre parti (e spero anche dalle mie!) andare a vederli on stage!

Hardsounds ("Daemonolatria Hypnotica"Italian)

Dopo un 3-track promo che mostrava una band ricca di qualità e devota il più possibile all'assalto sonico black metal di reminescenza Marduk e Setherial (ma anche Immortal, Dark Funeral, Mayhem...),
approdano al full-length gli Ars Macabra; "Daemonolatria Hypnotica" è un lavoro che si presenta bene fin dall'artwork, curato e comprensivo di un booklet esauriente e graficamente accattivante.
Per quanto riguarda il versante musicale invece, non mi aspettavo sorprese di alcun genere, e così è stato; escludendo rari intermezzi (a volte anche elettronici e robotici, peraltro eccellenti,
come nella malatissima intro, forse un po' troppo 'staccata' dalla partenza a razzo della prima traccia, ma assolutamente convincente), la band si lancia a tutta velocità in una folle corsa, tra blast-beat impazziti e riff glaciali e mai troppo scolastici.
Nonostante la durata non certo esigua di molti brani, la noia non fa mai capolino nel corso dell'ascolto (un pregio raro nei dischi black oggigiorno!), aiutata anche da una produzione perfettamente a suo agio nel mettere in risalto le caratteristiche più ferali ed estreme del combo,
ma senza mai sfociare nella ciaciara più totale o in un'accozzaglia di suoni senza capo ne coda.
Detto ciò, le capacità tecniche degli Ars Macabra sono senza dubbio buone, adattissime a reggere i velocissimi ritmi da loro stessi creati.
Siamo dunque davanti ad un ottimo prodotto, ben suonato, ben prodotto e con tutte le potenzialità per piacere, e non poco, agli appassionati di black metal old-style, come me.
E di questi tempi, tra invasioni di cloni (no, Star Wars non c'entra) dei maestri e gruppi power(!) che si proclamano black, cose del genere fanno solo bene alla salute e alle mie/nostre povere orecchie.

Infernal Fields ("Iter in Obscuritates Mentis")

This demo-Cd is quite old, being dated 1999;
anyway this Cd-r contains also two songs of the forthcoming album "Demonolatria Hypnotica".
The old material is very cool, is fast Black Metal but with a very raw approach, and quite sick vocals.
The songs are played fast, very listenable and with some nice riffs that made the song structure variable during all its length.
The battery sound is also quite different than the usual acts of this genre, fast but never inhuman as many bands are used to record their drum parts,
a thing that makes me give them some more points, 'cause it makes the global approach of the band a little rawer and hellish.
About the two final songs, as told an extract for the forthcoming album, they are recorded in a worst way (maybe is a demo version),
but I have to say the general mood of them is better at my ears, and a particular mention must go to the vocals, became even darker.
I hope the full length will be in the vein of these tracks, in particular of "Sturmgescutz of Chaos", my favourite one.

Metalwhore ("Daemonolatria Hypnotica")

Ars Macabra hail from Italy; and produce some freezing-riff pounding black metal for you all.
They have changed lineups a bit over time; founding member Sathor (guitars) and Nero Baratro (bass) still remain with the band; former drummers Abyss and Carnag_744 were since replaced with a drum machine;
and original vocalist Azreal was replaced by Myst; they had a second guitarist at one point as well. At any rate; the band continues on; playing their frozen style of black metal.
This is a 3 song promo from the album "Daemonolatria Hypnotica", and gives one a good taste onto what they are all about.
Track 1 is titled "Sturmgeschutz of Chaos". Starting up with some eerie sound effects, then hitting into the song itself; it features some really wicked sounding vocals throughout the whole thing;
very bleak in nature. The riffs are pretty thick overall; simplistic black metal riffs for the most part but nice and heavy.
The drumming is intense; keeping the pace; and the bass is pretty well noticeable, rides along with the guitar.
The track's pretty fast overall; the vocals really help shape this one I think; impressive.
Nice main riff in this one too; and the production overall gives it a good feel. It's pretty much a classic sounding black metal track; best way to describe it I think;
it ends after about three and a half minutes. Some more sound effects come in; and moves into "Prolegomena of a Warfare State". Nearly twice the length of the last track;
it's also pretty quick; and again, features the nicely tortured sounding vox of the first one, with some guttural sounding screams mixed in for the demonic flavor.
The drums are relentless once again; comes out pretty strong in the mix as well. The riffs are thick yet again; a couple minutes in sees a rather wicked sounding one placed that sticks out pretty well.
Overall it's a track of some more relentless raw black metal; it really does deliver a good pounding to you the entire time!
Doesn't do too much changing up for the first part; the brutal rhythm section mixes well with the buzzing, thick guitars.
About halfway through we get some eerie sound effects...just some sort of odd sounding key effects; sort of building up to the next part of the song;
it becomes thicker and thicker, adding some screams, until the rest of the song explodes again after about a minute; once again relentlessly pounding you.
A pretty cool breakdown appears here; adding a little break in there between your poundings.
The vocals have some more evil sounding growl/yells underneath the higher, tortured vox for another nice effect.
Good overall track here; it has a nice buildup, brea,and finish to it.
Moving on to track 3, we have "Dawn to an Endless Night".
Opening up with some windy sounds; it once again explodes into another pounding black metal track. The vocals again sound like some serious torture is going on;
and the riffs and drums combine to beat your head in some more. Another pretty killer riff found in this one.
Pure fury would be a way to describe some of the parts of this song; when it blasts forth, it really blasts forth!! The riffs about halfway through the song jump out a bit more; the vocals don't let up;
again mixing the higher and lower ones very well.
Definitely some vicious stuff overall here; there is no getting around that! I have to say some of my favorite riffs appear in this song; they change up a little more often hear and some real gems are heard.
Vocally this one is probably my favorite as well! It ends after about six minutes, and that closes out the promo.
Standout Track: Dawn to an Endless Night
Vocals: As I have stated a few times in the review above; I really dig these. Mainly the higher-pitched evil wails; they fit the music well and have a nicely freezing feel to them that helps carry the music along.
Some nice guttural screams mixed in; these add another dimension as well. I have always had a big liking for vocals that can give me some shivers; and these do the job.

Guitars: Some killer freezing riffs found in these tracks; some of them pretty memorable at that; some more simplistic, but still solid.
Nice thick guitar sound which I always like to hear; they don't get lost in the mix, nor to they overtake it. Good job here.

Bass: A little lower in the mix; but it's definitely there; you can hear the added thickness it adds.
Nothing too technical or anything; but it's fuckin' freezing black metal, it doesn't have to be! Thick sound for sure though.

Drums: Pretty much relentless the entire time! Fast, and blasting; they don't give too much of a break here. Fills are good;
but the drumming is pretty much more on a basic, albeit very fast, level here. But it works; and that's the important thing.

Overall: Some classic black metal here. These 3 tracks are a good start; they do indeed make me want to hear more.
Nothing super out of the ordinary; but at the same time for someone like me it's welcome to hear the black metal that I grew to always love.
Proving you don't have to rewrite the book every time an album's made(then again, who the fuck cares about any 'book'), these guys get my vote of approval.
I do like their sheer brutality mixed with the old-school sound! Another band with some really impressive vocals; I quite dug 'em here!
The production isn't overly raw either; making it a bit easier to listen to for those people who want some extra production on their black metal;
but it's still pretty much on the raw side of things;I like it. I look forward to hearing the whole album of this sometime!

ARS MACABRA - PROMO (3 song CD)

Hailing from Italy & spewing forth some extremely intense Black Metal comes ARS MACABRA.
This three song promo contains songs from their forthcoming debut full length CD called "DAEMONOLATRIA HYPNOTICA".
These guys play ultra sick Black metal all the way. They do toss in some elements of Grindcore & Death Metal as well.
The music is very fast, aggressive & brutal as hell! The vocals are done in a mid ranged Black/Death Metal growl along with some high pitched Black metal screams.
I am really looking forward to their full length album after hearing this promo!!!

Rebel Extravaganza ("Daemonolatria Hypnotica" promo 3 songs)

True Italian Black Metal. Trust me, it sounds no more right reading than it did writing
. Italy, while known for Lacuna Coil and Hatework, has never been a country to trust for good dark metal.
This is why I was suprised not only to be contacted by Ars Macabra, but that they were worth reviewing to begin with.
Hey, if Melecesh can do black metal from Israel, why should I be surprised that a band from the very womb of Catholicism might find enough bitterness to create legitimate black metal?
By legitimate, I don't mean "recorded in the catacombs 200 feet and around one corner from the mics, so as to appear true or kult".
I mean to say that the recording is definitely listenable, and is more enjoyable than a good portion of the black metal I hear these days.
Attention bands: playing 500 32nd notes per minute, having an imp from the 5th sublevel of Purgatory hanging from your balls as you sing, and an unreadable logo does not make you "true".
It makes you undiscernable from the 666 other bands doing the exact same thing.
Now, while Ars Macabra's Rorshach Test inkblot of a logo is as "true" as one could hope for, the music of opener 'Sturmgeschutz Of Chaos' is rabid in it's simplistic attack.
Lyrically, Ars Macabra must have taken English Lyric Writing 101 on the day Emperor substituted as teacher.
Still and all, when Myst shrieks "I slain the creed's meat, I am the demonic vultures", you get the intended meaning, past tense and plural forms be damned.
Not that all of Ars Macabra is drum-machine hyperblasts and riffs played too fast to be audible.
These Italian goat-followers know how to mix things up a bit, as referenced in 'Prolegomena Of A Warfare State".
Riffs that dance on the black cliff's edge of Marduk-inspired death/thrash ready to dive headlong into Emperor-worship collide with vocals that bring to mind Bloodstained Dusk or early Darkthrone.
'Dawn To An Endless Night' finishes off this 3 Song Promo of material from the forthcoming full-length Daemonolatria Hypnotica.
Truthfully, as mechanical as some of the black metal scene's drummers can be, nothing works about a band racing to keep up with a drum machine.
The drums are tastefully programmed, though, and not set to inhuman pacing.
Ars Macabra have obvious talent, but need something to differentiate themselves from bands 1through 665 in order to be known outside their native country.
There are some good ideas here, and I'd be interested to see what these guys do with a full CD.

Vampire Magazine ("Daemonolatria Hypnotica" CD)

In November 2003 I reviewed their two track promo of this album and this summer I received the full album.
That promo was a representative one, as the impression from that promo is confirmed on the full length version “Daemonolatria Hypnotica”: in fact, the album is even better, as Ars Macabra happens to be a damn good band.
Okay, the intro might be a bit long and slow industrial, yet my opinion at that time that this band is a perfect match between Marduk’s “Panzer Division” and Trenchwar is still standing: furious hateful and intense black metal.
Ars Macabra knows the secret of intensity: just raging like a crazed panzer doesn’t impress, and thus they created breaks: opening song ‘A Recollection of the World…’ is a perfect example!
Although the bio says Ars Macabra has a drummer of flesh and blood they clearly still use an electronic drumming computer: just listen to ‘Disciples of Torment’ for instance: no soul, not even owned by the devil himself, can play that fast!
Funny thing that on a track that seems more appropriate for electronic drums, ‘Machinator Tormentorum’ the drums sound more human, yet still extremely fast.
Remarkable is the song ‘Psycho Apocalypse’: after about three minutes you think the song is over when you hear a kind of outro, yet after some seconds they start hammering again, a trick that is repeated on ‘Prolegomena…’.
‘Sturmgeschutz of Chaos’ was already on the promo and is the most Marduk-like track of this album: with the entire album Ars Macabra proves they are more than just the Italian version of Marduk.
It will be no surprise that also closing ‘Dawn to an Endless Night’ is a piece of raging fury with breaks added at the right moments, though the electronic bass drumming on this is a bit over the top according to my old ears…
The sound of the album is good; the instruments are clearly to be heard, without losing the overall band sound.
Ars Macabra is one of those bands that does not only play extreme fast intense war black metal, but who also can play it.
The songs are intense yet with plenty of variation, so that the album does not bore for a moment.
And that, my dear readers, is the trick of this kind of music. Ars Macabra masters it well; a very good album and well worth adding to your collection of war paraphernalia!

Astrofaes Metal Domain UK ("Daemonolatria Hypnotica" CD)

Having enjoyed the 3-track promo of this album, I was quite looking forward to hearing the full album from this Italian 2-piece band.
They describe themselves as war metal (there's a nice picture of a tank on their website!)... and probably a good comparison of the style on show here is that of early Marduk (think Panzer Division).
The thing that immediately hit me when i sat down to listen, was the great production.
It's quite refreshing to hear a true black metal release which has disobeyed the 'golden rule' of trying to make the production as bad as possible to try and be "true".
Good going guys. The other thing to smack me full-on in the face was the lightning fast drums (done by a machine), but they aren't unrealistically fast, a competent drummer could probably just about pull it off.
However, I must question the wisdom of such speed at times, because it sounds like the rest of the song is playing catch up.
There are plenty of hateful riffs, and the vocals are pretty decent too (sounds like early Darkthrone).
Overall, it's a good black metal release which is sure to please those who like it 'true' or 'raw'.

Metal Mayhem UK ("Daemonolatria Hypnotica" CD)

This promo, featuring two tracks from their forthcoming album "Daemonolatria Hypnotica" wasn't really enough for me to make up my mind about the band.
Hailing from Italy, Ars Macabra play cold, fairly technical, machine gun speed black metal that for most of the time is very competent and interesting.
I really do think that the band should find a proper drummer and then I think the band could mean business, the drum machine isn't particularly bad,
it just get s a bit too crazy now and again, other than that, from the two track's I have heard, the forthcoming album should be of some interest to underground BM fans.
As I said before, a real drummer would be a huge advantage to the band along with the melodic, raw sounding guitars and the inhuman vocals.
Another thing worth mentioning quickly is the bass-lines, if you concentrate on the bass, you can hear some very intricate and complicated work.
I will look forward to hopefully receiving the new album when it's out as the band promise the new music is going to introduce new industrial and electronic elements blended with dark and obsessive atmospheres, to challenge new fields and extremities of music, soul and experience.
More of a taster than anything so I can't really give it more than a 6.

Black Metal Online IT ("Daemonolatria Hypnotica" CD)

Tornano finalmente i Romani Ars Macabra, dopo il più che buono "Iter In Obscuritate Mentis", demo cd-r ormai di qualche anno fa, e tornano questa volta con un cd vero e proprio prodotto da un'etichetta vera.
La band aveva dimostrato già dal demo di saperci fare e questa mi pare la giusta "premiazione".
"Daemonolatria Hypnotica", il titolo di questo debut, continua degnamente il cammino intrapreso in passato, offrendo una miscela di War Black Metal e parti più Industrial che non mancherà di far felici tutti i fans del Black Metal più estremo e diretto.
"Hypnotic Ultra-Fast Black Metal", questa la scritta che campeggia sul retro del cd e la definizione è più che mai azzeccata.
"Misteria Nocturna", l'intro, è un brano Industrial marcio, oscuro e freddo come un pezzo di ghiaccio, che introduce tutta la rabbia e la violenza di "A Recollection Of The World Once Called Earth",
un titolo che la dice lunga.
Fast Black Metal, che oggi va di moda chiamare "War Black Metal", veloce, assassino, devastante! Riff di chitarra al fulmicotone sempre molto ispirati ed avvincenti, scream demoniaco e sezione ritmica inumana.
Gli Ars Macabra si avvalgono dell'utilizzo della drum machine, sistema tanto odiato-amato dalle diverse frange di estimatori del genere.
In questo caso direi che la drum machine è molto ben inserita ed amalgamata nel contesto, le ritmiche sono così veloci e forsennate che sarebbe stato davvero arduo per un drummer in carne ed ossa riprodurle alla medesima maniera.
Non sempre la produzione ed il mixaggio della drum machine risulta però perfetto, ma questo è solo un dettaglio assolutamente trascurabile.
Personalmente parlando, parere che esula dalla recensione, preferisco per questo tipo di Black Metal produzioni più pulite e potenti, ma credo che con il tempo tutto verrà naturale, per ora il lavoro è già sufficentemente curato ed in linea con lo stile proposto.
Le parti Industrial, riproposte come intermezzi od intro dei vari brani, rendono tutto il lavoro più oppressivo e soffocante, dando attimi di pausa frustrante tra un assalto ed il successivo...
Caratteristica che trovo molto interessante nell'economia del sound della band e che spero possa essere mantenuta anche in futuro e sviluppata nel migliore dei modi.
Pochi commenti da fare sulle singole tracce; solo assalto, devastante, distruttivo assalto! I riff come detto sono molto interessanti ed avvincenti, le atmosfere che si respirano durante l'ascolto sono quelle della guerra, della morte e della distruzione totale....
Un album che potrà senz'altro risultare interessante a tutti gli amanti dei vari Endstille, Vargsriket ma anche Diabolicum.
Gli Ars Macabra sono tornati... E questa volta più distruttivi che mai... Dategli un'ascoltatina...

Hateful Metal DE ("Daemonolatria Hypnotica" CD)

Ars Macabra bestehen bereits seit 1998, immer wieder geplagt von Besetzungsproblemen ist nun das erste Album erschienen, welches bereits 2001 entstanden ist.
Daemonolatria hypnotica ist im Grunde eine typische War Black Metal Scheibe. Die Italiener präsentieren sich zumeist in aggressiver, prügelnder Raserei dass mir manchmal dazu die Crust von Sarcófago einfällt.
Begleitet wird dieser Geschwindigkeitsrausch von recht einfachen und einprägsamen Riffs. Das hört sich bisher alles recht simpel an, ist es aber nicht unbedingt, denn Ars Macabra haben ihren Liedern einen durchaus interessanten Schliff verpasst.
So schnell und eingängig das Ganze zunächst erscheint, sind doch recht interessante Arrangements in der Musik versteckt. Auch wenn das Schlagzeug phasenweise ein Tick zu sehr nach Drum-Computer klingt, sind gerade die brachialen und stürmischen Taktwechsel gut gelungen.
Aber auch wenn es zielstrebig geradeaus geht, wie bei Sturmgeschütz of chaos, machen Ars Macabra einen stimmigen Eindruck. Des weiteren werden zwei unterschiedliche Gesangsstimmen eingesetzt, eine schnellere und aggressive die den größeren Anteil inne hat sowie ein tiefe und dunkle,
was sie auch ganz geschickt miteinander zu kombinieren wissen.
Daemonolatria hypnotica ist ein ganz ordentlicher Einstand, zumal die Band ständig unter Besetzungswechseln gelitten hat.
Leute die schnellen und aggressiven Black Metal mögen, dürfen durchaus mal ein Ohr riskieren.

Italian Black Metal Division IT ("Daemonolatria Hypnotica" CD)

Gli Ars Macabra sono un gruppo romano nato nel '98, che nel '99 partorisce il suo primo demo intitolato "Iter in obscuritates Mentis" contenente anche testi in latino.
Il gruppo nel 2001 giunge ad un contratto di 4 dischi con la Elegy e questo promo cd-r con confezione in bianco e nero che ho tra le mani è quindi la copia promozionale del loro primo Full-Lenght che si intitola"Daemonolatria Hypnotica"ed è composto da 8 track per 40 minuti di musica.
Il gruppo propone un BM veloce basato in generale su riffs e tempi velocissimi (o assurdamente veloci come in "Machinator Tormentorum"... in senso buono naturalmente) e gerrafondai, spesso inframezzati da passaggi atmosferici dal sapore ambient-industriale molto azzeccati,
come la delirante intro "Mysteria Nocturna", tanto che il gruppo si autodefinisce "Hypnotic Ultra-Fast BM" Il suono e la registrazione sono curati ma sono scarni e senza fronzoli, le voci sono scream con sporadici passaggi growl.
Ora come ora il gruppo è un trio avendo rimpiazzato il batterista con una drum-machine, e la loro proposta puo' essere avvicinata ai Gorgoroth piu' efferati, avvicinati ai passaggi piu' oltrazisti di gruppi come Setherial, Dark funeral, o Destroyer 666, secondo la mia modesta opinione...
quindi sapete cosa aspettarvi, e da parte mia, ho gradito molto il modo di usare i passaggi oscuri ed atmosferici che puo' essere sicuramente approfondito fino a fondersi alla musica in maniera piu' evoluta, ma vedremo poi in futuro quale sara' la scelta del gruppo.

Metal Holocaust IT ("Daemonolatria Hypnotica" CD)

Nati nel lontano 1998, gli Ars Macabra giungono al loro primo full lenght con questo Daemonolatria Hypnotica sotto Elegy Music,
dopo aver dato alle stampe un unico demo targato ’99, Iter In Obscuritates Mentis, che già all’epoca fece parlare di loro.
La band ci “allieta” con oltre quaranta minuti di black metal feroce, incazzato come non mai e viscerale, molto in sintonia con le ultime cose dette dai 1349 di Frost.
Stilisticamente parlando, molti sono i punti di contatto con il black metal ultra fast inaugurato dagli onnipotenti Marduk con il loro Panzer Division Marduk: pezzi tiratissimi, riffs tritaossa e quell’attitudine “war oriented” che di diritto appartiene al quartetto svedese più feroce della storia.
Dopo i deliri hypno-noise dell’intro “Misteria Nocturna” (che tanto ricorda i Thee Maldoror Kollektive) la band dirompe in tutta la sua furia con “A Recollection…”, e subito qui si sente l’influenza del black metal swedish school.
I riffs sono tutti di pregevole fattura, potenti e taglienti, senza concedere un attimo di tregua all’inerme ascoltatore, anche se un maggiore “ammorbidimento” delle ritmiche avrebbe sicuramente giovato ai pezzi che, alla lunga, stancano un po’.
Infatti, in quei pochi momenti in cui la doppia cassa fa capolino, alternandosi ai tipici tempi black, la qualità dei pezzi sale ulteriormente.
Un altro aspetto, che credo debba essere curato, è l’eccessivo cambiamento d’atmosfera che la band tenta di proporre all’interno dei singoli pezzi (tutti molto lunghi, tra l’altro), che alla lunga disorienta non poco: repentini stacchi synth si intromettono bruscamente nel rifferama, spezzandone inutilmente l’atmosfera, per poi scomparire altrettanto velocemente, lasciando di nuovo lo spazio al black.
Capisco l’intenzione di voler donare maggiore varietà alla proposta, ma in questo modo si perde in compattezza.
In definitiva si può dire che gli otto pezzi che compongono questo disco sono più che buoni, e lasciano ben sperare per il futuro della band, cha già da ora sembra abbia tutte le carte in regola per poter assestare dei bei colpetti nel panorama black. Stay tuned.

Music Extreme AR ("Daemonolatria Hypnotica" CD)

A long darker than the deepest of hells intro with keyboards and some horrid laughs open this album.
Then comes the most mayhemic black metal that you can find. The music here is fast, aggressive and raw black metal with the elements thta re characteristic of this style.
Here are the screamings filling with ultra violence the eight compositions, here are the blast beats in many parts that are like a machine unleashing violence over humanity.
And the main thing here are the dark atmospheres, even if this is a really raw black metal album. Yes, the dark feelings are the main thing here making each composition and experience of utter aggression and dark blasphemy.
The sound of the recording is raw and that gives sort of a live feeling to the music. Pure unholiness unleashed !!!

La Horde Noire FR ("Daemonolatria Hypnotica" CD)

Pour prouver que la scène de la capitale italienne peut faire aussi bien qu’ailleurs en matière de BM,
et qu’elle a aussi les yeux rivée sur la glorieuse Scandinavie, autant citer Ars Macabra sans risque de se tromper !
Signé pour deux albums chez Elegy, label italien, Ars Macabra saura vous convaincre avec son BM très rapide,
rageur, compact et froid dont un certain Dark Funeral ne renierait en rien la recette !
Après une longue intro qui pourrait faire penser qu’il s’agit d’un album d’indus rituel,
c’est partie pour 43 minutes de furie sonore comme savent en faire les Suédois… pardon, les Italiens, dorénavant.
La froideur qui se dégage ici vient essentiellement du fait que le trio utilise désormais une B.A.R., mais très bien programmée ;
un marteleur de chair et d’os n’aurait probablement pas pu assurer un si bon rendu !
Les riffs ravagent tout sur leur passage, et sont subtilement aérés par quelques plans psychotiques.
Le chant est bien criard et haineux à souhait, parfois doublé d’une voix grave.
Les textes, absents ici, laissent présager d’autant de vigueur dans les convictions à la lecture des titres : « Sturmgeschutz of chaos », « Prologomena of the warfare state » !
Arghh ! Tout un programme, certes peu novateur, mais dont les chenilles nous écrasent déjà les neurones ! Ce groupe existe en fait depuis 1998, et malgré les changements de line up,
ces 8 titres sonnent tout à fait mature et très bien produits.
En effet, l’UG ne semble être qu’une étape pour les ambitions qu’affichent le groupe : il est vrai qu’Ars Macabra a déjà ouvert chez lui pour Impaled Nazarene ;
et ce n’est probablement pas terminé…A découvrir,et à ranger entre Dark Fu, Marduk et Setherial.
